Nabeul is a coastal town in northeastern Tunisia, on the south coast near to the Cap Bon peninsula. It was founded in the 5th century BCE by the Greeks of Cyrene, serving as a trade port. Its name is an Arabised form of the Greek Neapolis ‘New City’. It is a popular tourist destination and the main centre of the Tunisian pottery industry (link). If you were looking to buy traditional Tunisian pottery pieces… this is the cheapest place I found (I was upset I did not get all my pottery pieces from Nabeul – it is more expensive in other places I checked and bought from) – This post is full of pictures about my very quick visit of the city… lots of pottery, colors, designs, accessories, art and crafts…. and much more 😉

كما ترون… المدينة فيها محلات كثيرة و تشكيلة كبيرة من الفخار بألوان و أشكال مختلفة و متنوعة – هناك الأواني الفخارية بالنقشات التقليدية و أخرى بنقشات و أشكال حديثة أو ملونة بلون واحد… والعديد من الأشكال لإستخدامات مختلفة فمنها ما يصلح للأكل أو الشرب أو الزينة… أو كمعلقات على الحائط

As you can see… the city is full of pottery shops with wide range of items in different colors, styles, uses! You see, there are the ones with the traditional colors and patterns, other are brighter with modernized pattern and look… some are just plain! Something for everyone I guess 😉 Not to mention the different uses for those pieces in which you can use as plates to eat from, cups for drinking, or just pieces to hang or place on a table or so!

I could not help but snap a picture of this…. Weeds and smoking weeds!! I thought it was funny and interesting, but I have no idea if its legal there or what?
