How I Learned to Stop Fearing and Love Exotic Art

I was invited by the lovely Ms. Liane AlGhusain to attend “How I Learned to Stop Fearing and Love Exotic Art” exhibition showcasing multimedia works from Iran & the Arab world featuring art pieces, text, and calligraphy!

This JAMM’s exhibition featured multimedia works that incorporated text in its various forms; calligraphy, graffiti, quotations, poems and sometimes just a single letter…. It was just beautiful! I met my friend Dana there… and then we met Mohammed, another friend and walked around 🙂

Join us virtually on the tour please 😉

The exhibition was nicely packed… a few media personnel, photographers, artists, lovely crowd and more….

Artists who participated were; Parviz Tanavoli, Hassan Hajjaj, Farideh Lashai, Katya Traboulsi, Farid Abdal, Amira Behbehani, Shezad Dawood, Nargess Hashemi, Susan Hefuna, and Farhad Moshiri.

Really interesting art pieces… each artist showed his/her special touch and style…

Here is an art piece that we stood in front of for a bit while! It was huge, and “mashallah” a lot of people stood there gazing at it… its by Amira Behbehani… whom we got the chance to talk to, and she was really sweet 🙂

I love it when I get the chance to talk to the artist while checking out their work… they give you insider info, and you get to know something or two about them!

A couple of close ups of her art piece

Moving on… Dana and Mohammed were checking some art pieces, discussing them too! I couldnt resist snapping this shot!

Check out the frames on those photographs below

You see… different forms of art under one roof!

This piece depended on lighting and special effects…

I believe this is the artist explaining her work to someone… I heard her talking about it and what it symbolizes

Catering was from Lenotre and it was canapes, refreshments, tea… LOVED it!

All in all, the exhibition was fabulous – NOT to be missed! I am so happy Dana asked me to join… I was gonna miss it, but really thanks D :* And thank you again and again Liane for inviting us 🙂 I really enjoyed it to bits!

You can know more about the exhibition from their Facebook Event Page (link). It will be up and running till December 10th 2011.
